Update

I haven't been posting much lately because things have been so hectic. Michael has been working straight nights, 6 or 7 days a week, 10 or 12 hours a day. When he is home, he is sleeping. Life has been hectic to say the least.

I was so glad when Michael called me tonight and told me that this is his last night. He's going back to days. Hopefully, that means our life will go back to something close to normal. We have been doing school at 6:00 pm to 10ish, when Michael is working. Keeping six kids quiet during the day is darn near impossible. Luckily, we are all pretty flexible here, so changing schedules and cycles hasn't been too difficult for the kids.

We have been praying for Eliana's birth parents. She was able to speak to her mom a few days ago, but her mom told her she almost died. We think she had appendicitis. We can't determine if she had the appendix removed or if that was even the issue. Eliana has been worried all week. I hope they will call this week and give us some more information.

Proud mom moment: Last weekend the kids were outside playing with their friends. One of Eliana's friends is very concerned that her parents may be getting divorced. Eliana prayed with her, and told her she would keep praying. Somehow the girls got to talking about how they don't know much about the Bible, and they decided they wanted me to teach them. I told them I would do a Bible study with them if they got permission from their parents. They all said yes, and so it seems I will be leading a Bible study for the neighborhood middle school girls. It should be interesting.

It seems like with Michael working so much the kids behavior is kind of degenerating. Last night when I was trying to watch the debate, Eliana and Meghan got into an argument. Those two are like oil and water. I get tired of refereeing fights, so I told them they needed to go have a conversation about what behaviors they each need to change so that they can treat each other in a way that demonstrates love and respect for one another. Every five minutes they would come back and tell me they worked it out and then immediately start telling me "but, but, but". I would send them right back. Finally, after half an hour when they walked out and they were both laughing, I knew they had worked it out.

I'm getting so tired, but hopefully I will have more time to blog now.

My husband works nights so I completely understand what you are going through. Good job for you doing a Bible study for the kids in the hood!

I can relate well to a hubby working nights. It can make the days "challenging" when they're sleeping.

How awesome that you're doing a Bible study for the girls in your neighborhood. Praying that their lives will be changed through it.

Blessings,
Shannon

Hi. My hubby works nights often too. It is hard to try to keep the kids quieter then so he can sleep. it gets nerve-wracking.
That is so wonderful that you can do a Bible study with your daughter and her friends. The fact that they initiated it and WANT to do this too is so wonderful! May the times be profitable, fun and worthwhile. You are sowing seeds!
